Thomas Turner History
Thomas Turner moved from London to Reading in 1838 eventually opening two more shops, one in Newbury and one in Basingstoke.
The Reading shop was the last remaining shop and Jack Stratton was the proprietor until handing over the business to his sons Peter and Michael. Jack was one of the last true multi-talented gunmakers. Turners had their own Shooting school up until it closed in the mid 80's. The school was run by Jack's son, Peter Stratton. Turners developed the famous flush which they operated at many game fairs it was then known as the “ Turners Team Shoot ” and to this day it is one of the most exciting forms of clay shooting.
Turners moved to Gosbrook Rd, Caversham in 1984 under the management of Peter Stratton and continue to be proud of their expertise and service.

In 2007 Peter Stratton retired and handed over the business to a new management team comprising his son James Stratton and Tony Kear. Since then we have employed a new team and have introduced new technology to increase efficiencies and improve the businesses marketing capabilities, which culminated in August 2009 with our new online catalogue of country clothing and accessories.
Above all else the new team at Thomas Turners are passionate about their sport and business and completely committed to providing customers with the best advice and continuing our tradition of offering outstandingly good customer service.
